SUPERYACHT ALTERNATIVE TO PAINTING CHAIN
A new alternative to painting your anchor chain - Anchoright Superyacht stud link anchor chain markers.
-
90% reduction in time taken to mark chain - crew are reporting cutting times down by up to 90% compared to painting the chain. No preparation required, easy fitting no fuss, no mess, no re-marking.
-
100% elimination of chain paint pollutants - We estimate 24,000 litres of paint is used each year to paint superyacht chain, which all ends up in the sea. Our system doesn't flake off like paint or break off like cable ties.
-
0% hassle - there's no anchor chain preparation needed and the markers can be fitted on deck without any mess. So even if you're not able to haul out all the chain, the markers can be fitted whilst in the marina.
Painting anchor chain is time-consuming, temporary and pollutes the oceans.
Every year crew are tasked with painting the anchor chain, sometimes 2-3 times per year. It's a thankless task especially as the paint comes off ultimately ending up in the sea.
The picture is an AI interpretation of what your crew feel like when they're asked to paint the chain - it's probably not that far off. In contrast below are a couple of testimonials from real superyacht crew after fitting the Anchoright Superyacht stud link chain markers.
TESTIMONIALS
Annabelle - Mate SY Unfurled - We have been extremely impressed with the markings we tested over the summer. They saved us a huge amount of time, as there was no need to prep and paint the chain. Installation was quick, simple and far more efficient than our usual process.
So far, the markers have held up really well and remain easily visible in day to day use. For anyone using them, I’d recommend placing 5+ markers at each section of chain to make identification even clearer.
Overall, they’ve been a great addition to our setup and were very happy with the performance so far.
Breno - First Officer M5 - The chain markers are definitely an improvement in the anchoring system. If it doesn't break, it is not bad for the environment, saves deck crew time of maintenance and saves money to the ownership. There is still a couple of improvements to make such as the reflective tape [Now solved - Anchoright] but overall after 2 months of heavy usage, we are happy with the markers just wishing we have installed in more links.
What an Anchoright chain marking custom set includes
-
Stud link anchor chain markers - Available in 8 colours (see below), our stud link markers are bright, visible and durable. The SOLAS reflective tape means at night time the location of the markers can easily be spotted with a head torch.
-
Guide plate - is custom made to your requirements to suit the colour scheme you're using. Available as A5 or A6 size, backing colour can be black, white or silver. They can be secured on deck as the colours are manufactured into the plate for durability.
-
Top level service and support - I'm Quinton, the MD and founder of Anchoright. You'll be dealing direct with me throughout the process of having your set made and discussing any feedback requirements. Contact me using the below form if you've any questions.
Colour schemes to suit your fancy
We can manufacture markers in a range of 8 colours and will make the set to suit whatever colour sequence you currently use. Alternatively we have recommendations for various lengths of chain (below) if you want to go with one of those.
Whatever sequence you use we do recommend you put a set of warning markers (Orange - black safety warning alternated) a short distance from the anchor as a starting point.
