ANCHORIGHT GUIDE PLATES

Anchoright chain markers and guide plate
  • So simple yet so effective!

A guide plate is automatically included in every chain marking set and can be added as an optional extra if you're creating your own set of colours from our colour chart.

The guideplate is one of those things which is so simple it's a wonder no one has come up with it before. Simply slot the colours and numbers into the plate to match how you mark up your chain and place it on the deck next to your windlass as a simple reference for you and your crew.

Made of durable plastic it will last for years even in the harshest conditions out on deck.

  • Fully customisable

Guide plates are provided with a set of numbers for you to insert into the plate giving you complete flexibility on the intervals you want to mark. Both a metric and an imperial scale are available - see what's included below.

There is also an anchor marker to mark when the anchor is about to break the surface and a 'Stop' marker to mark when to stop running the windlass before the end of the chain. So whether you want to mark from 5 to 40 in intervals of 5 or 10 to 140 in intervals of 10 with an anchor marker the choice is yours.

  • Colour sequence

When bought with the guide plate the chain marker colours are provided in the sequence Red - Yellow - Light Blue - White - Bright Green - Pink - Orange - Royal Blue - Ivory - Forest Green - Magenta - Brown - Purple - Black - Olive. So for example if you're marking 5 points on your chain you will receive colours Red through to Green.

Whilst there is no official sequence, a customary one for the first five is Red-Yellow-Blue-White-Green. We have added the additional colours in colour variations on that sequence.

  • What's included with the guide plate?

    • A blank guide plate which has a row for each colour in
    • Number tabs to insert into the guide plate. A choice of either

    - metric (A-5-10-15-20-25-30-35-40-50-60-70-80-90-100-x) or

    - imperial (A-10-20-25-50-75-100-125-150-175-200-225-250-275-300-x)

    • Colour tabs, one per colour supplied in the pack
    • 2 x 316 stainless steel screws

  • Renewable-resource 'plastic'

Whilst our 8mm and 10mm chain markers are manufactured in the UK by injection moulding Acetal, a tough, durable polymer, the guide plate is manufactured by a process called "additive manufacturing" from Poly Lactic Acid which is derived from renewable resources, such as cornstarch or sugarcanes. PLA polymers are considered biodegradable and compostable over extended periods of time and have a similar impact on the environment as composting wood.

  • Where to position your guide plate

Anywhere you like really! The best option is to place two, one right next to the windlass alongside the anchor chain so you can see the markers run past the guide, the other is at the helm where you can see the markers run through the windlass.

Many customers place it on the underside of the anchor locker door for when he opens the hatch, another has put it on their mast.

Whilst there are screws provided, it is as easily bonded to the deck or inside a locker using CT, Sikaflex or something similar.
